DAVID HEDGES FROM WILTSHIRE SENTENCED TO 28 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN DILTON MARSH
In a case that has shocked the community of Dilton Marsh and the wider Wiltshire area, David Hedges, a 57-year-old man, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving young children. The crimes, which spanned several years, involved disturbing acts of abuse committed against two young girls, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
Hedges was found guilty of three counts of engaging in sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13, a crime that highlights the severity of his actions.
Additionally, he was convicted on four counts of indecent assault, all committed against the same victims.
The court heard that these heinous acts took place on no fewer than 17 separate occasions, stretching across the 1990s and into the early 2000s, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior over an extended period.
The sentencing took place at Salisbury Crown Court on February 7th, where the judge delivered a stark message about the gravity of Hedges' crimes.
He was sentenced to serve 28 years in prison, with an additional year on license, meaning he will be under supervision after his release.
The court also stipulated that Hedges must serve a minimum of two-thirds of his sentence before he becomes eligible for parole, at which point his case will be reassessed.
Beyond his imprisonment, Hedges faces strict legal restrictions designed to prevent any future harm.
He is now a registered sex offender, subject to the conditions of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), which imposes restrictions on his behavior and contact with minors.
Furthermore, a restraining order has been issued to prohibit him from having any contact with children indefinitely, ensuring the safety of potential future victims.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and the judicial system to protect vulnerable individuals and hold offenders accountable for their actions.
