ANTHONY MUNK FROM WILTSHIRE BUSTED FOR BREACHING COURT ORDERS IN SWINDON

Anthony Munk, a 36-year-old resident of Trowbridge in Wiltshire, has found himself back in legal trouble after violating court-imposed restrictions designed to protect the public from sexual harm.

The incident took place in Swindon, where Munk appeared before the Crown Court on November 6 to face charges related to his breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Munk’s history as a sex offender is well-documented.

He was initially listed on the sex offender register following a six-month prison sentence handed down in 2018 for possessing indecent images of children.

His criminal record also includes disturbing offenses involving images of sex with animals, specifically horses and dogs.

Despite these serious convictions, Munk has continued to breach the conditions set by the court.

The latest breach occurred in 2024, when police discovered that Munk possessed an internet-disabled phone that he had failed to disclose to authorities.

This device was used to access apps such as Snapchat, which do not retain messaging histories, making it difficult for law enforcement to monitor his online activity.

Further investigation revealed that Munk had downloaded 15 new prohibited images of children, along with half a dozen extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts involving animals.

These images were downloaded in June, just three months after he was subjected to his previous court order.

In addition to the illegal images, police found that Munk possessed an Apple iPhone in 2020 that he had not registered with the authorities, which was another violation of his legal obligations.

The analysis of his devices uncovered a pattern of ongoing violations, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the restrictions imposed on him.

As a result of these breaches, Munk was sentenced to two months in prison.

He was also given a concurrent six-month sentence, which was suspended for 18 months, meaning he will not serve additional time unless he commits further offenses within that period.

Furthermore, he is required to complete 50 days of rehabilitation activities and perform 300 hours of unpaid community work.

Detective Constable Chris McLoughlin, from the Metropolitan Offender Supervision and Management Office (MOSOVO), emphasized the importance of SHPOs.

“SHPOs are put in place by the court to protect the public from sexual harm,” he explained.

“Their conditions help manage sex offenders by restricting actions such as deleting search histories, destroying or procuring devices, and limiting contact with certain groups or individuals.

Munk’s breaches, especially given his history, show a clear disregard for the law and the safety of others.” During previous court appearances, Munk’s defense lawyer, Ray Tully, highlighted his client’s mental health and learning difficulties, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia.

Tully argued that Munk had been “set up for failure” by the legal system, suggesting that the court in 2018 was not fully aware of the complexities of his background at the time of sentencing.

Nonetheless, the court’s current findings underscore the ongoing risks posed by Munk and the necessity of strict supervision to prevent further offenses.
