ALAN WILTSHIRE FROM WILTSHIRE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AT WINCHESTER CROWN COURT
A 65-year-old man from Devizes, located in Wiltshire, has been handed a significant prison sentence following his conviction for serious child sex offences.The individual, identified as Alan Wiltshire, was sentenced to a total of 28 months behind bars during a hearing held at Winchester Crown Court on Friday, July 26.
Wiltshire's criminal activities came to light after he was found responsible for sending explicit and sexual messages to someone he believed to be a 12-year-old girl on a social media platform.
The case revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior, which ultimately led to his conviction for attempting to engage in sexual communications with a minor, attempting to incite a child to partake in sexual activity, and for violating the terms of his existing sexual harm prevention order.
Prior to this conviction, Wiltshire had already admitted to three counts of creating indecent images of children.
On April 14, he was sentenced by Salisbury Magistrates to 17 weeks of imprisonment, which was suspended for 12 months.
Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that would remain in effect for five years.
His recent actions constituted a breach of this suspended sentence, prompting further legal action.
The court imposed a series of sentences: 14 months for inciting sexual activity, which was to run consecutively; an additional 7 months for the sexual messages, to run concurrently; 12 months for breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order, to be served consecutively; and a further two months for breaching his suspended sentence order, also to run consecutively.
Furthermore, Wiltshire was issued a new Sexual Harm Prevention Order, this time extending for a decade, to prevent any future offences and protect potential victims.
The court's decision underscores the seriousness of his violations and the ongoing risk he poses to the community in Wiltshire.
