SCOTT DAVIS AND SHOCKING SEX ATTACK IN MELKSHAM, WILTSHIRE
A man from Melksham, Scott Davis, has been sentenced to prison after committing a disturbing sexual assault on a teenage girl in the streets of Wiltshire.The incident occurred during the early hours of New Year’s Day in 2022, shocking the local community and prompting a thorough investigation.
According to reports, Davis, aged 39, approached the young girl as she was walking home from a party.
The encounter took place around 5am on the A350 Beanacre Road underpass.
Davis initially presented himself as a protective figure, claiming to be an ex-firefighter who wanted to ensure her safety.
He told her that he was concerned about other men who might pose a threat, and the girl, feeling reassured, engaged with him during their brief interaction.
She later told detective Sarah Greenman that she believed his intentions were benign at first, stating, "I was agreeing with what he was saying; it wasn’t wrong.
I was feeling like reassured." However, the situation quickly escalated when Davis refused to let her walk away in the Murray Walk area of Melksham.
The girl described feeling increasingly frightened, uncertain of what might happen next.
The encounter took a darker turn when Davis led her down an unfamiliar lane in the Forest Road vicinity.
There, he committed a sexual assault that lasted approximately two minutes.
During the attack, Davis grabbed her around the waist, pulled her closer, and kissed her on the lips.
He then made inappropriate comments about her figure, telling her, "You’ve got a good figure," before proceeding to put his hands down her trousers and squeeze her buttocks.
He also lifted her leg and held it up with one hand.
The girl recounted her feelings of helplessness, saying, "I tried to leave, but I couldn’t really move because of how tight he was holding me around my waist.
I was scared, I didn’t know what to do." After the assault, Davis continued to engage with her, repeatedly stating his full name and asking her to add him on Instagram, providing the username "Scotty Bear." Davis, who resides on Portman Road, claimed that the incident was a case of mistaken identity and chose not to give evidence during his trial at Salisbury Crown Court in September.
Despite his absence, a jury found him guilty of the charges.
On November 10th, Judge Angela Morris sentenced Davis to two years in prison.
Additionally, she ordered him to register as a sex offender for ten years and imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Davis is expected to serve half of his sentence behind bars.
In a stark contrast, Davis’s sister, Stacey, who was previously jailed for neglecting her one-year-old child during a heatwave, faces the possibility of early release as she could be freed as soon as next month.
Davis’s imprisonment marks a significant chapter in the ongoing efforts to address sexual violence in Wiltshire.
