ROBERT LOUW AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHESHIRE
A private dance instructor who exploited a young girl through repeated acts of sexual abuse has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.Robert Louw, aged 27, residing on Rookery Road in Tilston, Malpas, Cheshire, was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual activity with a minor.
In addition to his prison sentence, Louw is required to register as a sex offender for an indefinite period and is prohibited from working with children or vulnerable adults once he is released.
The court proceedings revealed that Louw had engaged in messaging the victim via Snapchat, which played a role in the investigation and subsequent charges.
During the hearing at Mold Crown Court, Judge Rhys Rowlands described the abuse as both sordid and repeated, emphasizing the profound psychological impact it had on the young girl.
The judge noted that the victim had even contemplated suicide at one point due to the trauma inflicted upon her.
Judge Rowlands stated, “You were taking advantage of a young girl many years younger than yourself,” highlighting the significant power imbalance and the predatory nature of Louw’s actions.
The judge also pointed out that the abuse had a lasting negative effect on the victim’s well-being.
Louw, who was known to teach in the Wrexham area, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child.
The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect indefinitely, aiming to protect others from potential harm.
During the trial, Louw’s defense attorney, Andrew Green, acknowledged that his client had taken responsibility for his actions.
The prosecution, led by barrister Simon Rogers, explained that the abuse was uncovered when the victim’s mother confronted her daughter about a note, which led to the investigation.
Louw admitted to kissing the victim but denied engaging in any other sexual activity when questioned by authorities.
The case underscores the serious consequences of exploiting minors and highlights the ongoing efforts to prevent such abuse in Cheshire and beyond.
