———————————————————————— In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to monitor and enforce sexual harm prevention measures, Gary McVeigh, a 47-year-old resident of Winsford, Cheshire, has been sentenced to a substantial prison term after violating the conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
McVeigh’s legal troubles are not new; he was previously convicted in August 2016 for possessing and creating indecent images of children.
His prior conviction resulted in a two-year imprisonment sentence.
Following this conviction, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which included a series of strict conditions aimed at preventing any further offenses or related behaviors.
One of the key restrictions imposed by the order explicitly prohibited McVeigh from possessing any nappies, a condition that he was found to have violated.
On the 21st of May, 2024, officers from the local law enforcement agency conducted a routine check at McVeigh’s residence on Delamere Street, Winsford.
These checks are standard procedure for registered sex offenders to ensure compliance with the conditions of their orders.
During this visit, officers discovered that McVeigh was in possession of three unregistered devices, which he had attempted to hide from authorities.
Further inspection of his bedroom revealed a disturbing collection of soiled nappies, alongside a significant number of unused nappies.
The discovery of these items raised immediate suspicion, leading to McVeigh’s arrest on suspicion of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Following his arrest, McVeigh was formally charged with three separate breaches of his SHPO.
He subsequently pleaded guilty to all charges, acknowledging his violations of the court-mandated restrictions.
Today, at Chester Crown Court, the judge sentenced McVeigh to two years and four months in prison, reflecting the seriousness of his breaches and the importance of upholding the conditions designed to protect the community from potential harm.
This case underscores the ongoing vigilance required in monitoring individuals with a history of sexual offenses and the legal system’s commitment to enforcing compliance with preventative orders.
