A man with a troubling history of sexual offenses against a young girl has been handed a lengthy prison sentence in Cheshire.Mark Anthony Foster, also known as Tony, residing on Forster Avenue in Weaverham, was convicted of a series of heinous crimes committed over a span of several years.
The court found him guilty of 11 counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14, four counts of rape involving a girl under 16, four counts of gross indecency with a girl under 14, and an additional count of rape involving a girl over 16.
These serious charges stem from offenses that took place between 1995 and 2001, during which the victim was aged between nine and sixteen.
The case only came to light after the victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, came forward in August 2020 to disclose the abuse she endured at the hands of Foster.
Her detailed account revealed that the assaults occurred primarily in the Northwich area, where Foster had groomed her over a period of seven years.
According to her testimony, Foster's abuse escalated over time, becoming increasingly violent.
Disturbingly, he reportedly administered her medication before subjecting her to rape.
The court heard that Foster's actions included multiple indecent assaults and rapes, with the severity intensifying as the years progressed.
Following his arrest, Foster maintained his innocence during police interviews, denying all allegations.
Despite his denials, the evidence presented during the 13-day trial at Chester Crown Court led to his conviction.
On Thursday, June 13, 2023, Foster was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
In addition to his custodial sentence, he will be subject to an indefinite restraining order to prevent any contact with the victim, an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and will remain on the sex offender register for life.
