WILLIAM STUDLEY SENTENCED IN CHESHIRE FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SLEEPING GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cheshire, William Studley, a 19-year-old man from Huxley near Chester, has been sentenced to serve five years and six months in prison for his involvement in a heinous sexual assault. The incident, which took place at his residence in Huxley Lane, involved the victim, a young girl who had been at a party with a friend and later stayed over at Studley's home.
According to court proceedings, the girl and her friend had agreed to spend the night at Studley's house following a social gathering in April 2022.
During the night, the girl, feeling unwell, fell asleep alone in an upstairs bedroom.
It was during this vulnerable moment that Studley committed the assault, an act that was later confirmed through video evidence.
The court heard that the victim awoke to find Studley raping her.
She immediately told him to stop, which caused him to run out of the room.
However, he soon returned and continued to sexually assault her.
The victim, demonstrating remarkable courage, reported the incident to the police the following day.
Her bravery led to a thorough investigation that uncovered disturbing evidence.
Cheshire Police officers discovered video footage on Studley's phone that clearly depicted him sexually assaulting the sleeping girl.
This evidence played a crucial role in the case, as it directly linked him to the crime.
When confronted with the footage, Studley admitted to sexual assault and also confessed to creating indecent images of children.
Despite this, he denied committing rape.
During the trial at Chester Crown Court, the jury found him guilty of one count of sexual assault but acquitted him of the charge of rape.
Detective Sergeant Courtney Day commented on the case, stating, "Studley initially denied all offences put to him, claiming that the victim had consented, but was left with no option but to plead guilty when footage of the assault was recovered from his phone.
Despite the evidence, he continued to deny the full extent of what he subjected the victim to that night.
What Studley put the victim through is truly horrifying, but thanks to the courage the victim has shown, he is now facing the consequences of his actions." In addition to his prison sentence, Studley was subjected to a 15-year restraining order, which prohibits him from contacting the victim or approaching her in any way.
Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
The sentencing, which took place on a Friday, marks a significant step in justice for the victim and highlights the serious consequences of such criminal behavior in Cheshire.
