LEWIS SPENCER FROM CHESHIRE JAILED FOR REPEATED SEX OFFENCES IN CONGLETON AND MACCLESFIELD
A well-known sex offender from Cheshire, Lewis Spencer, has been sentenced to serve time in prison after a series of disturbing incidents involving the filming and perpetration of indecent acts in the towns of Congleton and Macclesfield.The case was brought before Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, 14 May, where Spencer, aged 23, received a custodial sentence of two years and six months.
In addition to his prison term, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes.
Spencer, who resides on Birch Road in Congleton, had previously admitted to multiple charges, including five counts of sexual assault, seven counts of exposure, and possession of extreme pornography.
The court proceedings revealed the chilling details of his misconduct, which spanned over a period of nearly three weeks in December 2023.
According to the evidence presented, the incident that triggered the police investigation occurred on Tuesday, 26 December 2023.
On that day, Spencer was scheduled to begin his shift at a fast-food restaurant located in Macclesfield.
The victim, a 21-year-old woman who also worked at the same establishment, was performing a stock count around 5:40 pm when she noticed Spencer standing uncomfortably close behind her.
She initially suspected that he might be recording her, but chose to continue her work, dismissing her concerns as possibly unfounded.
However, her suspicions grew when she felt Spencer make contact with her using an object.
Turning around, she was met with Spencer apologizing and quickly putting his phone away.
After their shift concluded, the young woman confided in her manager about the incident, expressing her discomfort and concern.
The manager promptly reviewed CCTV footage from the store, which revealed a disturbing scene: Spencer had been engaging in a sexual act behind the victim without her knowledge.
The footage showed Spencer touching himself with his penis while recording the act on his mobile phone.
This evidence prompted immediate police action.
Spencer was arrested at his home address on Thursday, 28 December 2023, on suspicion of sexual assault.
A thorough examination of his seized mobile phone uncovered a disturbing collection of videos—17 in total—depicting Spencer committing similar sexual offences against multiple women.
These videos, recorded between Sunday, 10 December 2023, and Tuesday, 26 December 2023, showed Spencer engaging in sexual acts near or behind women of various ages, all of whom appeared unaware of his actions.
Further investigations identified two women from the videos who had previously worked with Spencer.
Authorities also recovered extreme pornography from his phone, adding to the charges against him.
As a result, Spencer faced multiple counts: four of sexual assault, seven of exposure, and one of possessing extreme pornography.
His actions have caused significant distress and concern within the local community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement response in cases of sexual misconduct.
