August 2022 Pervert locked up after cops arrest him for watching mums in supermarket changing rooms A convicted sex offender has been jailed for breaching the conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) by having a profile on an internet dating site and deleting his internet search history as well as failing to tell officers about his relationship. Paul Thomas, aged 41 of no-fixed address, admitted breaching a SHPO and two charges of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register, prior to sentencing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (4 August). He was handed a two-year prison sentence. The court heard how Thomas was arrested in October last year after it was discovered he had been speaking to a number of women on an online dating site. An examination of his mobile phone revealed he had deleted a total of 6,529 separate web history items, 507 internet search items and messages between four contacts from the online dating site. Thomas also failed to inform officers of his relationship with a woman who had three children. August 2022 A pervert has been locked up for breaching a court order after cops arrested him for watching mums in a changing room. Convicted paedophile Paul Thomas was handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order after committing a sex offence. It meant he had to comply with a list of conditions to reduce his risk of re-offending. But the defendant flouted the rules of the court order. Police only discovered the 41-year-old – who was previously told to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years – had breached the order when they arrested him for voyeurism in October 2020. He was alleged to have watched mothers in a baby changing area of a supermarket clean up their children for his own sexual gratification, StokeonTrentLive reports. Thomas was handed the sexual harm prevention order for an offence of meeting with a child following sexual grooming. He told police who arrested him on suspicion of voyerism that he had been in a relationship with a mother-of three. Two of her children were under 16 and he had stayed overnight at the family’s home without telling officers – a breach of the court order. Thomas also deleted his internet usage on his mobile phone. However, the detail of what was retrieved did not raise any concerns with the police. Now Thomas has been jailed for two years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Prosecutor Harinderpal Dhami said the defendant disclosed he had been in a relationship with a mum-of-three when interviewed in relation to an offence of voyeurism. His partner had no idea of his offending history but she confirmed he had stayed the night when her daughters were present. On October 4 he handed his phone to police and he disclosed to his probation officer he had deleted messages received from the Plenty of Fish dating site. Mr Dhami said: “His phone was analysed and there were 6,529 web entries that had been deleted. There was no suggestion that material being sought was indecent images of children. “He also deleted WhatsApp messages. There were 507 internet search items deleted. It seemed to be indicative that the defendant searched for his own name and details.” Thomas, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to breaching a SHPO and two charges of failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register.
