CRAIG ORDISH SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN STAFFORDSHIRE
A man identified as Craig Ordish has been handed a significant prison sentence of ten years following his admission to multiple serious sexual offences involving minors at a nursery located in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The sentencing took place at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, 19 April, marking a decisive outcome in a case that has shocked the local community and raised concerns about safeguarding in childcare environments.
Craig Ordish, aged 39 and a resident of Burton-on-Trent, was employed at the Co-operative Childcare Burton nursery at the time of the offences.
His role within the nursery, which is supposed to be a safe space for children, was tragically marred by his criminal actions.
The court heard that Ordish had previously entered guilty pleas to multiple charges related to his misconduct involving children.
Specifically, on 19 November 2023, he pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching her.
Later, on 19 January 2024, he also admitted to causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
His criminal record further includes five counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, as well as possession of extreme pornographic images.
These charges underscore the severity and depravity of his actions.
Following his guilty pleas, the court sentenced Ordish to ten years in prison, with an extended license period of three additional years, ensuring close monitoring and supervision after his release.
In addition to his imprisonment, he was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which imposes strict restrictions aimed at preventing any future offences.
He was also registered on the Sex Offenders Register for life, a measure designed to facilitate ongoing monitoring and community safety.
Ordish’s arrest was carried out in October 2023 after authorities received reports and allegations concerning his conduct.
He was subsequently charged with the offences and remanded in custody pending his court appearance.
The case has highlighted the importance of vigilance and rigorous safeguarding measures within childcare settings, especially in light of the serious nature of the crimes committed by someone entrusted with the care of vulnerable children.
