SHOCKING CRIME IN STAFFORDSHIRE: LEE, ROY, AND DAVID ANNABLE SENTENCED FOR DECADES-OLD SEX ABUSE
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community in Staffordshire, three brothers have been sentenced to prison for a prolonged and disturbing campaign of sexual abuse against a young girl over thirty years ago.The abuse, which inflicted severe psychological trauma on the victim, was carried out by Lee Annable, aged 47, who was responsible for the majority of the offenses, including two counts of rape and five charges of indecent assault.
Lee Annable, a resident of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, was convicted after a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
The court heard that his actions left the victim with lasting emotional scars, suffering from significant psychological harm as a direct result of the abuse.
The judge, Judge David Fletcher, sentenced Lee Annable to six and a half years in prison.
However, recognizing that the crimes occurred when he was a juvenile, the judge reduced his sentence by half.
Alongside Lee Annable, his older brothers Roy, aged 59, and David, aged 64, were also found guilty of serious offenses.
Roy Annable, from Clayton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, was sentenced to 18 months after being convicted of a single count of indecent assault.
David Annable, from Trent Vale, Staffordshire, received a two-year prison term following his conviction for two counts of indecent assault.
The court emphasized the profound impact the abuse had on the victim, with Judge Fletcher stating, “It’s quite clear to me that the victim has been severely affected by her childhood experiences.
No child of any age should ever go through the sort of trauma and pain she went through.” In addition to their prison sentences, all three brothers were subjected to Sexual Harm Prevention Orders, which prohibit them from having contact with females under the age of 16, except under specific circumstances.
Furthermore, Roy and David Annable will be registered as sex offenders for ten years, while Lee Annable will be on the register for life.
The court was also informed that the victim has a history of self-harm and has made multiple suicide attempts, a tragic consequence of the abuse she endured.
In a statement read aloud by prosecutor Benjamin Lawrence, she expressed her ongoing struggles, saying, “I am still discovering all the ways my abuse is affecting me.
I’m very wary of people, I have no trust in people, and my mental health issues affect my life every day.
I have a history of self-harm because I felt I was to blame (for the abuse), so I should be punished.
I have had several suicide attempts.
I am a prisoner and I have done nothing wrong.” The court also revealed that Lee Annable has a troubling criminal history, with 28 previous convictions for 52 offenses, primarily related to drugs and shoplifting.
This background underscores the long-standing issues associated with his behavior and the gravity of the crimes committed against the young victim in Staffordshire.
