ANTHONY BROWN-JONES SENTENCED IN STAFFORDSHIRE FOR SHOCKING RAPE IN BATH
A man identified as Anthony Brown-Jones has been convicted and sentenced to prison for a heinous sexual assault that took place in Bath.The incident involved a woman who was reportedly raped after a night out in the city, and the man responsible was subsequently captured, brought to trial, and found guilty.
Anthony Brown-Jones, aged 31 and residing in Rugeley, Staffordshire, faced serious legal charges after denying the accusations of rape that occurred in September 2020 at a holiday lodge in Bath.
Despite his denial, the jury at Bristol Crown Court determined that he was guilty of the crime following a thorough and detailed trial process.
The sentencing hearing concluded with Judge Martin Picton handing down a severe punishment for Brown-Jones.
He was sentenced to seven and a half years of imprisonment.
In his remarks, Judge Picton described the assault as “animalistic” and “inhumane,” emphasizing the brutality and violation involved in the crime.
Under the terms of his sentence, Brown-Jones is required to serve at least two-thirds of his prison term before he becomes eligible for parole.
Additionally, he is mandated to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Prior to the sentencing, a statement from the victim was read aloud in court.
In her message, she conveyed the profound impact the incident has had on her life.
She expressed her feelings of vulnerability and helplessness, stating: “[Brown-Jones] felt entitled to do what he wanted and I was not in a position to defend myself.
I was drunk, I was unconscious.
I would never have consented.” The victim also acknowledged the emotional toll, noting that the investigation and the subsequent legal proceedings have significantly affected her and her family over the past two years.
She expressed a mix of pain and resolve, stating her awareness that her attacker will face the consequences of his actions and that justice is being served.
In addition to her comments, Detective Constable Jon Oakey, who led the investigation, spoke publicly about the case.
He described the attack as “disgusting” and highlighted that the victim was in a position where she was unable to give consent.
Detective Oakey commended her bravery and resilience, noting the support her family and the authorities have provided throughout the process.
He also emphasized the importance of justice for the victim, pointing out that her strength and cooperation were crucial in ensuring that a dangerous sex offender is now behind bars.
