SEYI ODEYEMI SENTENCED FOR RAPE IN KENT AFTER CAMDEN ABUSE
A man named Seyi Odeyemi, aged 23, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after committing a serious sexual offence that spanned across London and Kent. The incident began in Camden on the evening of September 3 last year, around 10 pm, when Odeyemi approached a woman who was attempting to book a taxi.
He offered to take her home at a significantly reduced fare, promising to transport her for half the price of her intended cab.
Trusting his offer, the woman agreed and entered Odeyemi's vehicle.
However, instead of heading towards her residence, he diverted her to a hotel located near Northfleet in Gravesend, Kent.
Upon arrival, the woman appeared to be semi-conscious, yet she was still able to stand.
Despite her condition, Odeyemi forcibly carried and dragged her into a hotel room.
Once inside the room, Odeyemi committed a sexual assault, raping the woman while she was in a vulnerable state.
The following morning, the victim awoke confused and disoriented, unable to recognize Odeyemi, which indicates her memory of the events was unclear or incomplete.
The assault was reported to the police, leading to Odeyemi's arrest a few days later, on September 7.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Odeyemi had violated the terms of a sexual risk order that was in place at the time.
Specifically, he failed to disclose the victim's identity as required by the order and did not seek her consent for any sexual activity, actions that constituted clear breaches of the conditions imposed on him.
Odeyemi, who resides on Adams Drive in Willesborough, Ashford, was formally charged with rape and breaching the sexual risk order.
He maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to all charges.
However, after a trial held at Maidstone Crown Court, he was found guilty on both counts on August 14.
On December 4, Odeyemi was handed an extended sentence totaling ten years and six months in prison.
Upon release, he will be subject to an additional five years on licence, ensuring close supervision.
Furthermore, he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 20 years and is required to register as a sex offender indefinitely, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
