ROBERT GUNNER SENTENCED IN KENT FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN FAVERSHAM
A man from Faversham, Kent, identified as Robert Gunner, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes involving children.The investigation into Gunner’s activities was initiated following allegations that he had targeted young victims over a period spanning from 2014 to 2017.
Authorities from Kent Police acted swiftly once these allegations surfaced.
In June 2022, they arrested Gunner at his residence in Field End Place, Faversham.
During the arrest, law enforcement officers seized his electronic devices, including a laptop computer and a mobile phone, to conduct a thorough forensic analysis.
The examination of the seized devices uncovered a disturbing collection of illegal material.
Specifically, investigators found a total of 226 illicit images depicting children, with 27 of these classified as the most severe category of child exploitation images.
Additionally, eight extreme pornographic images were recovered, further highlighting the severity of the material found on his devices.
Following the investigation, Robert Gunner, aged 42, was formally charged with multiple offenses.
These included causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, creating and possessing indecent photographs of children, causing a child to observe a sexual act, and possessing extreme pornographic images.
Gunner ultimately pleaded guilty to these charges, acknowledging his involvement in these heinous acts.
The case was brought before Maidstone Crown Court, where on Thursday, 28 November 2024, Gunner was sentenced to a term of seven years in prison.
The presiding judge described him as a dangerous offender, emphasizing the significant risk he posed to children.
The court also imposed additional restrictions upon his release, including a three-year extension of his license conditions.
Furthermore, Gunner was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in effect for 20 years.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from any potential future harm.
The sentencing underscores the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to safeguard vulnerable populations from sexual exploitation.
