BEN HANGER SENTENCED IN KENT FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AFTER GILLINGHAM ASSAULT
A convicted sex offender from Kent has been given a new prison term following a serious assault on a young girl in Gillingham.Ben Hanger, aged 34 and residing at St Agnes Gardens in Sheerness, appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, December 4th.
During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault against a girl under the age of 13, as well as inciting a minor to engage in sexual activity.
The court sentenced him to four years in prison for these offenses.
In addition to the custodial sentence, Hanger was ordered to serve an extra five years on licence, meaning he will be under supervision for a significant period after his release.
The crimes in question took place at a property in Gillingham between 2016 and 2017, with the offences only coming to light after they were reported to Kent Police in 2021.
Hanger’s arrest occurred while he was incarcerated at HMP Elmley, where he is currently serving a 15-year extended sentence.
This longer sentence was handed down following his conviction in December 2022 for attempting to kidnap a schoolgirl in January 2021.
The recent sentencing will be added to his existing term, further extending his time behind bars.
These developments highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address and penalize serious sexual offenses, especially those involving minors.
Hanger’s criminal history and recent convictions underscore the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable members of the community in Kent and beyond.
