SIMON MONTGOMERY SENTENCED IN KENT FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AT DULWICH SCHOOL
A man named Simon Montgomery, who once served as a teacher and housemaster at Dulwich College Preparatory School in Cranbrook, Kent, has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a young boy during the 1980s.The disturbing case came to light after the victim reported the abuse to authorities in December 2022, leading to Montgomery's arrest and subsequent confession during police interviews.
Montgomery, now 70 years old and residing on Littlefield Road in Rainham, was accused of exploiting his position of authority to repeatedly assault a pupil under his care.
The abuse began with grooming tactics, as Montgomery would ask the young boy to stay behind after lessons, during which he showed him explicit magazines.
This initial manipulation escalated into multiple instances of sexual abuse, which took place both within the classroom setting and at a nearby sports facility, where Montgomery continued to prey on his victim.
Following the investigation, Montgomery faced multiple charges, including two counts of indecent assault and gross indecency with a child.
Additional charges were brought against him for making indecent images of a child, based on material discovered on one of his digital devices.
Montgomery ultimately pleaded guilty to all charges in court.
On December 19, at Maidstone Crown Court, Judge Oliver Saxby KC delivered the sentence, sentencing Montgomery to three years and four months in prison.
The judge also imposed a sexual harm prevention order, which will restrict Montgomery's activities for the next 15 years.
During the sentencing, Judge Saxby commended the bravery of the victim for coming forward and sharing his ordeal, emphasizing the emotional toll such revelations entail.
