JESSIE HILDEN AND SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE IN KENT AND MAIDSTONE
A man named Jessie Hilden from Kent has been sentenced to over five years in prison following his involvement in the abduction and sexual assault of a teenage girl.The incident took place in Maidstone, where Hilden targeted a particularly vulnerable minor, exploiting her trust for his own gratification.
Hilden, who resided at Caravan Site, Windmill Lane West in West Malling, was found guilty of several serious charges including abduction of a child, engaging in sexual activity with a minor, and attempting to interfere with the course of justice.
Despite pleading guilty, Hilden’s behavior during sentencing revealed a disturbing lack of remorse or self-awareness regarding the gravity of his actions.
Judge David Griffith-Jones QC explicitly stated that the severity of the case warranted a lengthy term of imprisonment, emphasizing that anything less would be inadequate.
The court proceedings revealed that the victim was only 14 years old at the time Hilden preyed upon her.
She was in foster care due to a high risk of falling victim to sexual exploitation, which underscores her vulnerable state.
Prosecutor Bridget Todd outlined that she was close to her 15th birthday when she went missing from her care home.
Authorities initiated searches, believing she might be at a hotel in Maidstone with Hilden.
Evidence presented in court established that Hilden had taken the girl to a bed and breakfast in Maidstone.
There, he supplied her with alcohol and engaged in sexual activity with her, which included a non-consensual act causing her pain.
Additional details revealed that he had had unprotected sex with her, further endangering her health.
Police later spotted Hilden on Knightrider Street, Maidstone, where he claimed he did not recognize or know the girl, stating, "He took advantage of me.
I was young and stupid...".
However, CCTV footage from the bed and breakfast confirmed that Hilden and the girl were together.
When arrested in May, Hilden initially denied any inappropriate relationship with her.
Despite being released on bail, with a condition to avoid contact with his victim, he continued to communicate with her via telephone.
During these calls, he attempted to manipulate her into deleting evidence from her phone and advised her to lie to the police, referring to them as the 'gavvers'.
The court also heard that Hilden had an extensive criminal history, with 19 prior convictions spanning over 30 offenses, predominantly related to dishonesty.
The victim, in a heartfelt statement, expressed her feelings of disgust and trauma from the ordeal.
She described feeling dirty and exploited, noting that her vulnerabilities—stemming from issues at home—made her a target.
She recounted how Hilden provided her with money and gifts, which seemed exciting at the time but was misleading since he was actually deceiving her.
The trauma has deeply affected her mental health, with recurring nightmares, flashbacks, and a loss of confidence that has disrupted her education and personal development.
Her words reflected her enduring hatred for Hilden and what he had done.
In sentencing, Judge Griffith-Jones recognized the vulnerability of the young girl and described Hilden’s grooming process, where he falsely promised holidays and marriage, and sought to alienate her from her family.
The judge emphasized that Hilden had taken advantage of her immaturity and impaired mental state right from the outset.
He condemned Hilden’s lies and manipulation, which exploited her for his own sexual gratification.
The psychological trauma inflicted upon her was described as devastating and difficult to fully comprehend.
Addressing Hilden directly, the judge condemned his deviant thinking and behavior, cautioning him to address these issues seriously.
Hilden received a total prison sentence of five years and two months.
This included four years and eight months for the sexual offenses, a 15-month sentence for child abduction to run concurrently, and a further six months for attempting to pervert the course of justice, to be served consecutively.
Furthermore, Hilden’s name will be entered onto the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
He will be prohibited from working with children, and a sexual harm prevention order was issued to restrict his behaviour further, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the potential risk to others.
