JONATHON BLACKLOCK SENTENCED IN NORTHUMBERLAND FOR STALKING AND VANDALISM
Jonathon Blacklock, 50, of Rimside View, Longframlington, Northumberland, carried out a sinister stalking campaign against his former partner following their brief relationship in 2020.The victim described Blacklock's behavior as an "appalling sequence of actions to inflict harm and humiliation." Over a span of approximately two months, Blacklock vandalized her property by spray painting offensive graffiti around a Northumberland village, including calls calling her derogatory names such as "s**t" and "s**g." He also sent her abusive text messages, left unpleasant notes at her home, left underwear at her partner's address, and approached her employer and partner at a garden centre, showing them sexual images of her.
Prosecutors reported that he showed her intimate photos to her boss and her partner during this period.
Additionally, Blacklock engaged in mindless vandalism by slashing the tires of 10 vehicles owned by individuals unrelated to him or his ex-partner, causing damage totaling approximately £750.
The victim was deeply affected by his actions, experiencing suicidal thoughts and contemplating quitting her job and moving house, the court heard.
Between September 2020 and January 2021, Blacklock escalated his harassment.
He left threatening voicemails calling her a "f****g slag," and continued to leave notes and photographs in her garden and at her partner's residence.
In November 2020, a neighbor informed her that someone had scattered multiple pieces of paper with abusive language in her garden.
That same day, her partner found female underwear at his doorstep, and Blacklock left notes referencing sexual activity between her and her partner.
He also dumped rubbish on her driveway and left a brick with "trash for trash" written on it.
In January 2021, Blacklock damaged her partner’s van, costing around £338.75 in repairs, and vandalized nine other vehicles in the area by puncturing their tires with a sharp instrument.
Blacklock was arrested but claimed he had not harassed the woman and said his actions were driven by a desire to hurt her.
She described feeling suicidal, changing her routes to work, and considering leaving her job and relocating.
He has eight previous offenses and was suffering from mental health issues at the time, but has since sought help.
During his sentencing at Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Edward Bindloss said, "You undertook an appalling sequence of actions, which inflicted harm and humiliation upon her — stalking, disclosing sexual images and criminal damage to her vehicle." He sentenced Blacklock to 14 months in prison, suspended for two years, and imposed a two-month curfew from 9 pm to 6 am.
He also issued a restraining order, banning Blacklock from contacting the victim or her partner.
The judge emphasized that Blacklock's actions, including the graffiti, abuse, and damage to multiple vehicles, were both reprehensible and mindless.
