CALLUM HALL FROM NORTHUMBERLAND JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST UNDERAGE GIRLS AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

A man from Northumberland, Callum Hall, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences involving two underage girls, as well as possessing a significant collection of child sexual abuse images.

The court proceedings revealed disturbing details about Hall's predatory behavior and the extent of his illegal activities.

Hall, who resides on Newlyn Drive in Cramlington, appeared before Newcastle Crown Court on a recent Friday to face charges that included causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, making indecent images of children, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and breaching a sexual risk order.

Although these offences were committed when Hall was under 18, he was considerably older than the victims at the time.

The court was informed that Hall initially contacted one of the underage girls through Snapchat, a popular social media platform.

During their online interactions, he exerted pressure on her to send explicit photographs and videos of herself.

Prosecutor Glenn Gatland explained that Hall used software to save these images and videos without her knowledge, which constituted a serious breach of trust and privacy.

He then coerced her into meeting him in person, threatening to reveal her images to others if she refused.

According to the evidence presented, the girl met Hall on three separate occasions, during which they engaged in sexual activity.

Hall's manipulative tactics and threats created a coercive environment that exploited her vulnerability.

The court also heard about a second victim, with whom Hall engaged in further disturbing conduct.

He lured her into a wooded area, where he physically restrained her by gripping her neck and asked her to perform a sexual act on him as a form of 'payment' for her injury after she fell and cut her hand, which left bloodstains on Hall's shirt.

Fortunately, this act was not carried out.

In addition to these offences, authorities uncovered a large collection of illegal images in Hall's possession, spanning from 2017 to 2022.

The images included 67 Category A pictures, which depicted the sexual abuse of babies, along with 78 Category B and 63 Category C images.

Hall had also used specific keywords to search online for child sexual abuse material and possessed extreme pornography, some of which involved the abuse of infants.

Hall was previously subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which imposed restrictions on his conduct.

However, he breached this order in 2022 by initiating a conversation with a teenage girl on Snapchat.

The breach was discovered after the girl's mother noticed the messages and reported them to authorities.

During the sentencing hearing, defense lawyer Shaun Routledge highlighted Hall's immaturity and difficult background, suggesting that he struggled with ADHD and autism, which contributed to poor decision-making and high anxiety levels.

Routledge argued that Hall was living in an isolated world and was operating closer to the age of his victims than his own.

He also emphasized that Hall was genuinely remorseful and that a pre-sentence report indicated he would be extremely vulnerable in a prison environment.

Judge Mark McKone KC, presiding over the case, described Hall's sexual offending as persistent and sentenced him to 26 months in prison.

Additionally, Hall was placed under a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be required to register as a sex offender for the same period, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public from further harm.
