ROBERT STANLEY AND DANIELLE SCHOFIELD FROM ESSEX JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND ABUSE
A disturbing case involving a couple from Essex who engaged in heinous acts of child sexual abuse has culminated in their imprisonment.Robert Stanley, aged 36, and his partner Danielle Schofield, aged 34, were found guilty of a series of grave offences related to the exploitation of minors.
Their crimes came to light following a detailed investigation conducted by the National Crime Agency (NCA), which uncovered shocking evidence of their involvement in child abuse and related criminal activities.
In August 2019, the couple participated in a video call during which Schofield sexually abused an eight-year-old girl.
Stanley, present during the call, took screenshots of the abuse for his own gratification, having encouraged and incited Schofield to carry out these acts.
The investigation revealed that Stanley had also sent Schofield a Category B indecent image of a child on May 6, 2019, further illustrating the extent of their disturbing behavior.
Both individuals admitted to multiple serious charges, including arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, sexual assault of a child under 13, and the possession and distribution of indecent images of children.
The court proceedings took place at Bradford Crown Court, where Stanley, who resides in Tilbury, Essex, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
Schofield, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, received a sentence of three years and four months.
The investigation was initiated in April of the previous year after authorities received intelligence indicating that Stanley had accessed three Category A child abuse videos, the most severe classification.
On April 23, 2020, officers arrested Stanley at Schofield’s residence in Dewsbury.
He was subsequently released on conditional bail as the investigation continued.
Forensic analysis of Stanley’s mobile phone revealed additional incriminating evidence, including four Category B images, two of which were screenshots taken during the video call where Schofield abused the young girl.
Schofield was arrested on May 20, 2020, and also released on conditional bail.
During their investigations, officers uncovered disturbing conversations between the couple, in which they discussed child abuse, referenced alleged previous abuse of the girl, and plotted future acts of harm.
The NCA confirmed that the young girl involved was identified and safeguarded during the course of the investigation.
On September 30, 2020, both Stanley and Schofield were formally arrested on serious child sexual offence charges.
Jacque Beer, the NCA’s regional head of investigations, described the crimes as “sickening,” emphasizing the disturbing nature of the couple’s conversations and actions.
As part of their sentencing, both individuals were ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and were subjected to sexual harm prevention orders, underscoring the severity of their crimes and the ongoing risk they pose to the community.
