JAN VANDERWEIDEN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN ESSEX FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man accused of manipulating and abusing a young child has been handed a lengthy prison sentence of 15 years, following a detailed investigation by Essex Police.The offender, Jan Vanderweiden, aged 60, appeared before Basildon Crown Court on a recent Thursday to face sentencing for five separate counts of sexual activity with a child.
Vanderweiden, who does not have a fixed address but is known to have connections within the Essex area, admitted to the charges brought against him.
The crimes were reported to authorities in 2022, prompting a thorough investigation that spanned over two years.
His victim, who has shown remarkable strength and resilience throughout the ordeal, expressed her gratitude towards the police officers who supported her during this difficult time.

The remaining three counts resulted in five-year sentences each, which will run concurrently with the other sentences.
In addition to his prison term, Vanderweiden was subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and a deprivation order was issued concerning his mobile phone, restricting his access to potentially harmful devices.
Detective Constable Georgina Stroud, who led the investigation, described Vanderweiden as a manipulative sexual offender, emphasizing that the lengthy sentence reflects the severity of his actions.
