BRIAN TUSAN, ESSEX SEX OFFENDER, DIES IN CHELMSFORD PRISON WHILE UNDERGOING END-OF-LIFE CARE
In a somber development, Brian Tusan, an 81-year-old man convicted of multiple serious sex offences, passed away while incarcerated at Chelmsford Prison in Essex. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, October 28, when Tusan was being treated in the medical wing of the Category B facility.
His death was attributed to complications from terminal cancer, as confirmed by medical personnel on duty at the time.
Brian John Tusan had been serving a prison sentence of seven and a half years after being convicted in 2017.
His incarceration followed a series of disturbing charges, totaling ten, with six specifically involving a minor girl.
Tusan was 80 years old when he was sentenced on October 26, 2017, and he had only spent a little over a year and two days behind bars before his death.
The charges against Tusan included six counts of inciting a female child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, although these did not involve penetration.
Additionally, he faced allegations of assaulting a girl under 13, including one count of sexual assault involving penetration with his body or an object, as well as two counts of sexual assault of a female.
These offences painted a disturbing picture of his criminal conduct.
At the time of his death, Tusan was under end-of-life care, having been diagnosed with terminal cancer.
An on-call doctor at HMP Chelmsford officially pronounced him dead at 3:58 am.
Following his passing, police officers responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, ultimately concluding that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, as reported to Essex Coroner’s Court on the Friday following his death, November 2.
Subsequently, a post-mortem examination was performed two days later at Broomfield Hospital by Dr.
Martin Goddard.
The preliminary findings indicated that Tusan’s cause of death was due to double pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a collective term for a group of lung conditions.
The report also listed lymphoma as a contributing factor, suggesting a complex health decline that led to his passing.
