JAMES GREEN OF ESSEX SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR CHILD INDECENCY OFFENCES
A man identified as James Green has been handed a six-year prison sentence after admitting to a series of serious criminal charges involving the exploitation and abuse of children. The sentencing took place at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday, 12 June, where Green, aged 45 and residing on Colne Road in Clacton-on-Sea, faced the consequences of his actions.
Green's criminal record includes a total of 20 offences, which encompass the making and distribution of indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornographic material, and possession of prohibited images of minors.
Specifically, he pleaded guilty to three counts of distributing indecent images of a child, three counts of creating such images, and possession of both extreme and prohibited images.
Additionally, he was charged with ten breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and violations of sex offender notification requirements, highlighting a pattern of ongoing illegal activity.
The investigation into Green's activities was initiated after authorities received credible information suggesting he was involved in illegal online conduct.
Essex Police's Online Investigation Team (POLIT) responded swiftly, visiting Green’s residence in April after reports indicated he had attempted to access indecent images of children and had violated the conditions of his SHPO.
Under the terms of his order, Green was explicitly prohibited from using any device capable of accessing the internet or possessing a phone unless it was registered with the police.
Despite these restrictions, Green attempted to conceal his phone, which led to his arrest.
During the search, officers discovered the device hidden beneath a tile in his ceiling, containing illegal content.
During police questioning, Green chose to remain silent, answering no comment to all questions.
Nevertheless, the evidence against him was overwhelming, and he was formally charged and remanded into custody.
Green’s guilty plea was entered on Tuesday, 30 April, after the authorities presented irrefutable evidence of his guilt, leading to his subsequent sentencing.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Essex to combat online child exploitation and enforce strict penalties against offenders who breach protective orders and commit such heinous crimes.
