HARRISON HAWKINS SENTENCED IN ESSEX FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES AND INDECENT IMAGES
A man from Basildon, Essex, who has been described by many as a 'monster' due to his heinous crimes, has been formally sentenced to serve time in prison for multiple serious offenses involving a child.Harrison Hawkins, aged 37 and residing on Kings Road, Steeple View, was handed a combined sentence totaling four years and six months behind bars for his disturbing actions.
Hawkins' criminal record includes admitting to three counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13, two counts of possessing indecent images of a child, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic material.
These charges stem from an investigation that was initiated in June 2020, after authorities received reports indicating that Hawkins' phone contained indecent images of a young girl.
Further allegations of sexual abuse surfaced in November 2021 when the victim, demonstrating remarkable bravery, disclosed additional incidents to officers from the Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT).
During police interviews, Hawkins was questioned about these allegations but responded with a simple 'no comment.' Despite initially pleading not guilty to all charges, he later changed his plea to guilty midway through his trial, acknowledging the severity of his crimes.
Today, the court sentenced Hawkins to a total of four years and six months for sexual assault of a child, with an additional 24 months for two other counts of sexual assault.
He was also sentenced to nine months for each of the two counts of possessing indecent images, and three months for possession of extreme pornographic material.
All these sentences are to run concurrently, meaning he will serve the longest sentence without stacking.
In addition to his prison term, Hawkins was subjected to a 10-year restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts his contact with minors and monitors his activities.
The court also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of all devices linked to the illegal images and material.
Furthermore, Hawkins was required to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
Detective Constable Ian Burgess, who led the investigation, emphasized the seriousness of Hawkins' offenses, stating, “Today’s sentence reflects the gravity of Hawkins’ offending.
I want to pay tribute to the victim and her family who have endured an unimaginable ordeal.
Their courage and dignity throughout this process have been truly commendable.
I hope that today’s outcome provides some measure of closure for them.” A mother, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed her gratitude towards the police for securing Hawkins' conviction.
She shared her relief, saying, “We have been believed, and I would urge anyone in a similar situation to report it to the police.
You will be listened to and treated with respect.
It feels like a black cloud has been lifted from over our heads, and we can begin to rebuild our lives.
Hawkins was like a wolf in sheep’s clothing—charming, shy, and seemingly harmless.
But I knew it was all an act.
He is, in fact, a monster.
