JOHN CRAWFORD AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENCES IN CUMBRIA
A man identified as John Crawford has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 12 years after being convicted of multiple serious criminal offenses involving sexual violence.Crawford, aged 35 and residing on St Vincent Street in Barrow, Cumbria, faced Preston Crown Court where he was found guilty of a series of heinous acts committed over a period spanning five years.
The court heard that Crawford was responsible for several grave incidents involving two female victims.
The offences included the rape of one woman, as well as sexual assault by penetration against the same individual.
In addition, he was convicted of committing an offence with the intent to carry out a sexual offence, alongside further acts of sexual assault and common assault.
These crimes took place between February 2015 and February 2020, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior over a prolonged period.
Due to the severity and nature of his crimes, Crawford will be required to serve a minimum of two-thirds of his 12-year sentence before becoming eligible for release on license.
Authorities have classified him as a dangerous offender, which means he will remain on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
This designation indicates the ongoing threat his criminal record poses to the community, and the need for continued surveillance and restrictions.
