JORDAN EMMS SENTENCED IN CUMBRIA FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING CHILDREN NEAR MILLOM AND ULVERSTON
Jordan Emms, aged 38 and residing in Barrow, was sentenced to a three-year prison term at Preston Crown Court on December 16.The conviction followed a six-day trial held in November, during which Emms was found guilty of serious sexual offenses, including sexual assault by touching and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
It is important to clarify that these criminal acts are not connected to his professional role at Thwaites School, located near Millom.
A spokesperson for Cumberland Council confirmed that Jordan Emms was employed as the Headteacher at Thwaites School.
His appointment was made after thorough checks and references were successfully completed, ensuring his suitability for the position.
Despite his employment, the council emphasized that the safety and well-being of pupils remain their highest priority.
Once the allegations against Emms came to light, immediate action was taken to suspend him from his duties at the school.
The spokesperson further stated, “We can confirm that these offences do not relate to his employment at Thwaites School.” Online records indicate that Emms was replaced as the headteacher at Thwaites School in Hallthwaites, Millom, in August 2023, prior to his arrest and trial.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that the offenses occurred in Ulverston and involved a single victim.
His Honour Judge Gioserano sentenced Emms not only to the prison term but also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will last for seven years.
Additionally, Emms was ordered to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further harm.
