BRADLEY BOYD FROM ESSEX SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY ATTACK ON TEENAGER IN RAYLEIGH
A man identified as Bradley Boyd, residing on Woodside Avenue in Benfleet, Essex, has been convicted and sentenced for a serious assault involving a young girl in Rayleigh. The incident, which took place on the night of January 5, has shocked the local community and highlighted concerns about safety and predatory behavior in the area.
According to reports, the victim, a 16-year-old girl whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, was walking home after an evening out.
She had been in a bar in Rayleigh earlier that evening, where she engaged in conversation with Bradley Boyd, who was 20 years old at the time.
During their interaction, Boyd made unwanted advances towards her, which she clearly rejected.
Despite her refusals, Boyd persisted in his approach, creating an uncomfortable situation for the young girl.
Later that night, around 3 a.m., the victim left the bar with her friends.
After some time, she decided to part ways with her friends and continue her journey home alone.
She walked along Eastwood Road, near the junction with High Street, informing Boyd that she would be making her way home on her own.
Shortly after their separation, the girl was walking through an alleyway close to M&S when she was suddenly approached from behind by a man.
The assailant forcibly pushed her to the ground and subjected her to an assault.
The attack was interrupted when her phone rang, causing the attacker to flee the scene.
Following the incident, the victim was able to identify her attacker as wearing a distinctive black Adidas jacket, matching the description of Boyd, who had the same build.
The police were promptly notified, and Boyd was arrested at 7:25 a.m.
on Saturday, January 6.
He was subsequently charged with assault by penetration.
Boyd's arrest marked the beginning of a legal process that culminated in a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.
During the six-day trial, the jury found Boyd not guilty of the charge of assault by penetration.
However, they did convict him of causing actual bodily harm to the victim.
The court sentenced Boyd to 40 months in prison for his actions.
The case drew significant attention from law enforcement and the community, emphasizing the severity of the crime and the importance of justice.
Detective Constable Leon Pezzuolo, who led the investigation, commented on the case, stating, “Bradley Boyd’s assault on the victim was sexually motivated, and his advances had been rebuffed multiple times during the evening.
He was told to leave her alone several times but refused to do so, ultimately attacking her as she was heading home.
His actions were totally unacceptable and demonstrated a predatory nature.
This was a very serious case, and the judge’s decision to go beyond the usual sentencing guidelines reflects the gravity of his misconduct.”
