ANDREW O’NEILL CAUGHT WITH CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY IN PERTH ESCAPES JAIL
In a case that has shocked the Perth community, Andrew O’Neill, a 36-year-old man residing on Crieff Road, was found in possession of highly disturbing and illegal images involving children and animals.The police executed a search warrant at O’Neill’s residence and confiscated his computer equipment, which contained graphic photographs of children as young as two years old.
These images depicted child abuse, a crime that carries severe legal penalties and moral outrage.
Investigators also uncovered explicit photographs involving bestiality, including sexual acts with horses and dogs.
The discovery of such material is considered a grave offense, reflecting a disturbing pattern of illegal and morally reprehensible behavior.
O’Neill was brought before the Perth Sheriff Court to face sentencing after he had previously pleaded guilty to charges related to the possession of indecent photographs of children, which he admitted to having taken or permitted to be taken between October 2012 and March of the following year.
In addition to the child abuse images, O’Neill also confessed to possessing extreme pornographic material that depicted acts of bestiality.
His legal representative, solicitor Steven Lafferty, attempted to provide some context for his client’s actions, stating that O’Neill’s interests were primarily in “older women” and that his interest in the images was driven by curiosity rather than malicious intent.
Despite the severity of the charges, the court was persuaded to avoid a jail sentence.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis, after considering the evidence and the nature of the images, decided against imprisonment.
Instead, O’Neill was placed under a strict supervision order for three years.
As part of his sentence, he was mandated to participate in programs designed to address and reduce his offending behavior, emphasizing rehabilitation over incarceration in this case.
