October 2009 Teen-lure bid perv is caged A SERIAL sex beast was yesterday jailed for at least 18 months — despite a last-ditch attempt to protest his innocence. David McMillan, 33, had earlier admitted trying to lure a 14-year-old girl to his flat in Perth. He bombarded the teen with phonecalls and texts offering her drink and drugs if she’d visit him. The court had heard how McMillan had admitted breaching a sexual offences prevention order (Sopo), within days of being freed from prison in 2008, by phoning and sending text messages to a vulnerable 14-year-old girl. McMillan claimed that he thought she was a 19-year-old adult This broke a a sexual offences prevention order imposed last year. At the High Court in Edinburgh, McMillan — who had sacked his lawyers — said he thought the girl was 19 and he wanted to withdraw his guilty plea and go to trial. But judge Lord Brodie told him: “It’s simply not something I can do.” The offence came 12 years after McMillan had been given a life term for raping a 73-year-old woman in Oban. But the sex beast’s sentence was later cut to nine years on appeal and he was freed in 2002. Yesterday judge Lord Brodie told McMillan he was being given a lifelong restriction order and will only be freed if the parole board are satisfied he no longer poses a danger. Lord Brodie added: “This is not a trivial matter.”
