JOHN NICOLL, THE DANGEROUS SEX OFFENDER FROM PERTH, LOCKED UP AFTER SCOTLAND ATTACK

In February 2012, a notorious sex offender named John Nicoll was sentenced to a total of 42 months in prison after a series of heinous crimes committed in Scotland.

Nicoll, who had previously fled the United States to escape justice, was identified as one of the most dangerous individuals to have ever been involved in sexual offenses in Scotland.

Nicoll’s criminal history is extensive and disturbing.

Born in Germany in February 1982 to Scottish parents, he later moved to North Carolina with his family following his parents' separation.

His father relocated to Perth, while Nicoll remained in the United States with his mother.

His criminal activities began to surface in August 2004 when he broke into a house and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl while she was sleeping.

This assault led to his imprisonment, and he was subsequently placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of 30 years.

After serving his sentence, Nicoll was released from prison in 2008.

Exploiting his dual nationality, he fled the United States and traveled to Britain, where he joined his father in Perth.

His return to the UK raised significant concerns among law enforcement agencies, especially after they became aware of his presence in Scotland in 2009.

Recognizing the threat he posed, Scottish police successfully obtained a groundbreaking legal ruling that allowed his U.S.

sex offender status to be recognized and enforced within the United Kingdom, marking a first of its kind.

Despite these precautions, Nicoll continued his pattern of predatory behavior.

In July 2009, he lured several underage girls into his home, where he served them strong alcohol.

Taking advantage of the situation, he assaulted a 13-year-old girl after her friends had left the room to be sick.

The attack was only uncovered in October 2010, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.

At Perth Sheriff Court, Nicoll admitted to the sexual assault of the 13-year-old girl and also pleaded guilty to turning up at a court hearing with a lock knife, which further demonstrated his dangerousness.

His crimes resulted in a sentence of 27 months for the sexual assault and an additional 15 months for possessing the weapon.

Furthermore, he was ordered to undergo 27 months of supervised release after his imprisonment to monitor his behavior and prevent further offenses.

John Nicoll’s case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in managing sex offenders, especially those with international backgrounds and histories of violence.

His actions have left a trail of trauma and concern in the communities of Perth and beyond, highlighting the importance of vigilant legal measures and international cooperation in safeguarding the public from such dangerous individuals.
