October 2008 Teenage runaway found at pervert’s flat A 29-YEAR-OLD who broke the terms of his sexual offences prevention order when a teenage runaway came to his flat has been handed 80 hours community service. Terrence McDonagh, of Toll Bar Road, Orford, was convicted of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl aged under 16 in July 2004. McDonagh was handed a community rehabilitation order and placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years. St Helens Magistrates’ Court made him subject to a further sexual offences prevention order in May 2006, which banned him from associating with anybody under the age of 16, after police officers raised concerns about a relationship he had with a 15-year-old girl. Warrington Crown Court heard on Monday how a 15-year-old boy had gone missing from a children’s care home on June 10 this year. Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, said the teenager was tracked to McDonagh’s flat on Toll Bar Road. He admitted the boy had been there and, after the youngster was found unharmed at another address, he was arrested. McDonagh told police the boy was the brother of the girlfriend of a neighbour. He said he had been asking for a cigarette and that he wasn’t aware he had run away, or that he was under 16. McDonagh, wearing jeans and a hooded top in court, has another previous conviction for sexual intercourse with a girl under 16 dating back to 1999, along with offences of shoplifting and burglary in 2000 and 2001. Judge Stephen Clarke, sentencing, said: “This order was designed to stop him having any contact with girls under 16. “If it was a young female who had been at the house his feet wouldn’t have touched the ground and he would have been facing two or three years in prison. “There is no suggestion at all that you encouraged him in any way to leave the home or in any way put him at risk.”
