ADAM BOND FROM ORFORD JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN WARRINGTON
In August 2016, Adam Bond, a man from Orford, was sentenced to a five-year prison term after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses committed against a young girl. The crimes spanned over a three-year period, beginning when the victim was just eight years old, and took place in various locations including Bond’s residence on Dudley Street in Orford, as well as in public parks and other private settings.Bond, who was 27 years old at the time of sentencing, was found guilty at Warrington Crown Court of five separate charges related to his abuse of the girl. These charges included four counts of sexual assault and one count of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Prior to the trial, Bond had admitted to another count, and during police questioning, he confessed to the offenses, stating, “I did it, I’m not going to lie – I touched her.”
The abuse reportedly began when the girl was only eight years old, with Bond admitting that he pulled her tracksuit bottoms down and inappropriately touched her. His sexual misconduct persisted as she grew older; when she was ten, he forced her to touch him by putting her hands in his underwear. The following summer, Bond continued his offending by placing his hands in her underwear and sexually assaulting her in his bedroom and in a park.
In 2012, the victim reached out to Bond via Facebook to confront him about the incidents. Bond responded with an apology and even offered to take her shopping, an act that did not prevent her from later reporting the abuse. The girl disclosed the details to a counselor in 2014, which led to the police becoming involved. Bond was subsequently questioned but chose to answer with a no comment response. However, during initial police contact, he admitted, “I touched her.”
During the trial, Bond, who was between 14 and 17 years old when the offenses occurred, initially pleaded not guilty but later admitted to a further count of indecent assault on the morning of his trial, which resulted in his conviction. The court heard how the victim had suffered significant psychological harm, including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and self-harm attempts. She also described feeling worthless and losing confidence due to the trauma inflicted upon her.
Judge Tina Landale sentenced Bond to five years in prison and imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. He is expected to serve half of his sentence before being eligible for release on licence. The judge emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating, “You were found guilty after a trial by jury of a series of the most serious offences committed against a vulnerable child. This has had a significant psychological effect on her and she has not been able to recover from what she suffered as a child.”
Following the sentencing, the victim’s parents issued a heartfelt statement. They expressed their anguish over the impact of Bond’s actions, stating, “Due to the despicable abuse that Adam Bond inflicted on our beautiful daughter at the age of 10 and 11, he has robbed her of her innocence, causing her to take a different direction in life. He is a disgusting individual with paedophilic tendencies. The pain and suffering has had a phenomenal impact – she became a shadow of her former self, withdrawn and shy. She no longer trusts men and has nightmares to this day. We are satisfied she’s got the justice she deserves and can try to move on with her life.”
It was also noted that Bond, who had no previous criminal convictions, was employed at Asda Birchwood and was participating in a management program with the supermarket chain at the time of his arrest. His case highlights the devastating effects of child sexual abuse and the importance of justice for victims.
