MICHAEL WILSON SENTENCED IN BRIDLINGTON FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGER
A 64-year-old man named Michael Wilson was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl while dressed in a schoolboy costume in Bridlington.The incident occurred in January 2019 when Wilson approached the girl as he was walking towards Headland School, and he inappropriately squeezed her bottom.
He was later found in an area of the school premises that was out of bounds.
An image was circulated among students showing Wilson dressed in a school uniform and wig.
Wilson was arrested on January 9, after police discovered a variety of school uniforms in a concealed room behind a bookcase.
During the investigation, officers also found a story written by Wilson titled "My Life As A 13-year-old Schoolboy" in the same hidden room.
He resides on High Street in Bridlington and appeared at Hull Crown Court on Friday, where he received a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years.
Wilson was dressed in a wig, a white shirt, a blazer, and a Headlands School tie when seen by two girls walking towards the school on the morning of January 8 last year.
Prosecutor Richard Thompson described the incident: "The defendant approached and, without asking anything, he squeezed one of the girls’ bottoms before walking towards the school.
He was observed by a staff member in an area close to the school building that is clearly marked as out of bounds." The staff member initially thought Wilson was a student but upon closer approach, recognized he was not.
Wilson claimed he was searching for someone and quickly left the area.
The staff member managed to take a photograph of him.
Wilson pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault and appeared in court earlier this year.
As part of his sentence, he is subject to a sexual harm prevention order for seven years, which prohibits him from purchasing school uniforms.
Additionally, he must stay at least 100 meters away from the perimeter of any school and is forbidden from making contact with children under 16 who are not related to him.
