LEE HAUGHTON SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN SHEFFIELD FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man with a disturbing obsession involving diapers and child abuse fantasies has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after confessing to plans to sexually abuse a baby.Lee Haughton, of Wood Street, South Hiendley, Barnsley, had his vile conduct detailed at his sentencing hearing at Sheffield Crown Court on February 11.
Judge David Dixon described Haughton’s behavior as both abhorrent and depraved.
Prosecutor Andrew Bailey outlined to the court how Haughton, during an online interaction in June of the previous year, met an undercover police officer posing as a single mother in a chatroom called 'fab swingers.' Despite Haughton’s immediate disclosure of interests in role-playing, age play, and diapers, he initially expressed caution, asking the officer, using the pseudonym Louise, to prove her identity.
She complied by sending him a picture.
As their conversation continued, Haughton revealed that he had a longstanding fixation with incest and expressed a desire to abuse Louise’s alleged children, who he falsely claimed were aged four and four months.
Louise told Haughton she shared his interests, and he disclosed that he had always been attracted to watersports and nappies.
Despite concerns about police detection, Haughton showed a desire to carry out his plan, expressing that abusing her baby was the ultimate fantasy for him—something he believed had previously been inaccessible.
The pair arranged to meet in person at Meadowhall Café on June 27.
When Haughton arrived, he admitted he arrived early because he was eager and wanted to check for police.
During the meeting, he devised a plan to abuse Louise’s children and discussed his attraction to nappies and watersports, revealing he had previously stolen dirty nappies from a supermarket bin, which he would smell and derive pleasure from.
Haughton was arrested three days after the meeting as he traveled to what he thought was Louise’s home, carrying a bag containing sex toys.
The police's undercover operation was part of 'Operation Resolve,’ aimed at making the internet safer for children.
Authorities linked Haughton to 19 indecent images of children found during a raid on his home in November 2020.
Forensic analysis also uncovered around 20 videos from a website called Incestflix, featuring incest-themed role-play.
Initially, Haughton claimed during police interviews that his actions were part of an elaborate plan to trap Louise and obtain her address.
However, he later admitted guilt to charges including conspiracy to commit a child sex offence, making indecent child photographs, and possessing prohibited images of children.
Judge Dixon labeled Haughton a dangerous offender and imposed a 14-year extended sentence, with six years to be served in prison.
He expressed certainty that Haughton would have carried out his plans against the baby.
Haughton was also placed on the sex offenders register for life and issued a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
Additionally, Judge Dixon praised the undercover officer for her exemplary role in exposing Haughton’s criminal actions, acknowledging that she had to live out a role too horrible to contemplate.
After the hearing, Acting Detective Sergeant Dave Devey of the Crime Services department stated, “Haughton is a depraved sex offender who appeared to be obsessed with abusing young children for his sexual gratification.
I am pleased he is now behind bars where he belongs.
This significant sentence should also serve as a warning to other sick individuals who think they can hide online.
We are determined to make the internet a safer place for children in our communities — and we proactively pursue online offenders like Haughton every day.
We will find you, and you will face the consequences of your sickening actions.” Furthermore, DCI Andy Howard from the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit added, “I am pleased with the court’s decision to sentence such a dangerous offender to a long prison term.
Our team continues to identify and pursue individuals using the internet to prey on vulnerable people across Yorkshire, Humber, and the country.”
