UPDATE 10/01/2025: William Hay died at HMP Barlinnie in Glasgow on the 28th December 2024 at the age of 74.In a significant legal development, William Hay, a 72-year-old man from Aberdeen, has been found guilty of a series of heinous child abuse offences that spanned over three decades.
The conviction was handed down on Wednesday, April 14, following a comprehensive trial held at the Glasgow High Court.
Hay was charged with multiple counts of indecent assault and lewd behaviour, crimes that he committed against a total of ten young boys in the Aberdeen area.
The abuse took place over a lengthy period, beginning in 1981 and continuing until 2016, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behaviour.
The victims, all of whom knew Hay personally, were involved in local community activities such as school football training and sea cadet training programs.
Their ages at the time of the abuse ranged from 10 to 15 years old, making the offences particularly egregious given the vulnerability of the victims.
