ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER THOMAS DONALD SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Thomas Donald, a 49-year-old former oil industry worker, has been sentenced to four years in prison after attempting to commit a sexual assault on a young girl. The incident took place at a residential property in Aberdeen, where Donald had been temporarily residing at the time of the attack.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that Donald had previously confessed to attempting to rape the 12-year-old girl in April of the previous year.
The court was informed that Donald’s actions were premeditated and carried out at a house in Aberdeen, where he had been staying.
The girl, who was a neighbor and a minor, was targeted by Donald during his brief stay at the property.
According to court records, Donald suddenly pounced on the girl at her neighbor’s house, an act that caused her to panic and attempt to escape.
The young girl managed to flee from the scene and later confided in a friend through an online messaging platform about what had transpired.
Her distress did not end there; she later disclosed to her mother that Donald had been “touching” her, revealing the full extent of the abuse.
The court was also told that Donald was considered a “high risk” of re-offending, which influenced the severity of his sentencing.
The judge, Lord Bannatyne, emphasized the seriousness of the crime and the potential danger Donald posed to the community.
As part of his sentence, Donald was ordered to be supervised for a period of one year following his release from prison.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to prevent further harm.
This case has raised significant concerns about the safety of children in the Aberdeen area and highlights the importance of vigilance and swift legal action in protecting vulnerable members of society from predatory individuals.
