PAUL STRATH ABERDEEN NURSERY SEX OFFENDER ESCAPES JAIL BUT GETS PROBATION
In a disturbing incident that took place in Aberdeen, a 19-year-old man named Paul Strath was caught engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl within the premises of an Aberdeen nursery. The incident drew significant attention due to the nature of the offense and the circumstances surrounding it.
According to reports, Strath had managed to sneak into the infants’ school along with the underage girl after they had been communicating online for some time.
The pair had been in contact through social networking site Bebo, where they exchanged messages over the course of several weeks.
Their online conversations eventually led to plans to meet in person, culminating in the encounter at Byron Park Infant School, located near Strath’s residence in Northfield, on October 18.
What makes this case particularly alarming is that Strath was caught in the act by police officers passing by the scene.
The officers, responding to a call from a suspicious neighbor who had noticed unusual activity, arrived just as the sexual act was taking place.
The police promptly arrested the teenager, who was later taken to the police station for questioning.
During his court appearance, Strath admitted to having unlawful sex with the minor.
He claimed that the girl had told him she was 15, which he believed at the time.
The court was informed that the two had known each other for approximately a year and had been exchanging texts and messages before deciding to meet up.
In his testimony, Strath expressed remorse and said he had shouted at the girl when she revealed her true age.
He also stated that he was deeply ashamed of his actions, especially given the public perception and the label of paedophile that was now associated with him.
He said, “She had been texting me asking to meet up for a few weeks.
It was only when the police asked us our ages I found out she was 13.
I was absolutely gutted.
I just ran away from the police but they caught me and put me in the police car.
I feel like my whole life has been ruined.” Despite the gravity of the offense, the court decided not to impose a custodial sentence.
Instead, Sheriff Edward Savage ordered Strath to serve 18 months of probation, emphasizing the importance of addressing underlying issues such as alcohol consumption and attitudes towards younger girls.
Additionally, Strath was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 18 months.
The sheriff highlighted the seriousness of the case, stating, “I’m told that you appreciate the serious nature of this type of offence.
You have various issues you need to address.
One is your alcohol consumption and your attitude towards younger girls.” The decision reflects a focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment alone, but the case remains a stark reminder of the dangers of online interactions and the importance of safeguarding minors in Aberdeen.
