MARK SIMPSON ABERDEEN BABY KILLER AND PAEDOPHILE SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Mark Simpson, aged 29, was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison for the brutal murder of a six-week-old baby girl named Alexis, the daughter of his former girlfriend.The court heard how Simpson subjected the infant to repeated acts of violence, resulting in injuries so severe that they resembled those seen in victims of high-impact motorcycle crashes.
During the lengthy trial at the High Court in Aberdeen, it was revealed that Alexis suffered from multiple fractured ribs—an estimated 40 fractures—indicating she was crushed with significant force.
The injuries inflicted upon her were so severe that she sustained catastrophic brain damage, ultimately leading to her death in December 2007.
The judge, Lord Uist, described Simpson as “a devious and deceitful individual,” emphasizing the cruelty of the repeated assaults on a completely defenseless baby who depended entirely on him for care and protection.
Lord Uist condemned Simpson’s actions, stating, “This was a repeated course of violence against a wholly defenceless baby who you should have been caring for and protecting.
This crime did not consist of a single act resulting from a single loss of temper on your part.
The pain and agony that baby Alexis must have suffered as a result of the injuries you inflicted on her is unthinkable.
This is an extreme case of repeated cruelty to a baby who you have deprived of the greatest human right — the right to life.” Adding to the disturbing nature of Simpson’s criminal record, it was disclosed that he was already serving time for a separate offense involving child exploitation.
Earlier this year, Simpson was imprisoned for offering to pay a 14-year-old girl for sex after stalking her online.
Evidence found on his computer revealed he had been actively seeking out girls aged between 13 and 15, sending them depraved photographs of himself and pleading for sexual encounters.
He was sentenced to 14 months at Stonehaven Sheriff Court and was placed on the sex offenders’ register.
Furthermore, the court scrutinized the response of medical professionals involved in Alexis’s care.
It was highlighted that the NHS Grampian Woodside Medical Group clinic, where Alexis’s mother, Ilona, initially sought help, failed to provide adequate medical attention.
The initial refusal of an appointment and subsequent failure to conduct a thorough examination by the attending doctor were criticized.
The court was told that given the extent of Alexis’s injuries, she should have been referred immediately to a pediatric specialist, a step that might have prevented her tragic death.
In his sentencing remarks, Lord Uist also called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Alexis’s death, pointing to possible lapses in medical judgment and response.
The case has left the Aberdeen community in shock, raising questions about child protection and the adequacy of medical assessments in cases of suspected abuse.
