May 2018 Unpaid work and supervision for Aberdeen man caught with indecent photographs of children An Aberdeen man has been handed unpaid work after being caught with indecent images of children. Niall Kelly, 29, previously pled guilty to possession of the images at addresses in the north-east between January 2013 and August 2017. The court heard there was a total of 75 images and three videos. Defence agent Gregor Kelly said his client had worked offshore in Romania and workers would “often trade movies”. He said his client was “sincerely sorry”, adding: “He accepts he has a problem and is doing something about it.” Sheriff William Summers told Kelly, of Hillcrest, Dyce: “This is not a victimless crime.” As a direct alternative to custody, he ordered Kelly to be supervised for three years and carry out 180 hours of unpaid work. He also made him subject to the notification requirements of the sex offenders act for three years and told him to complete the Moving Forward Making Changes programme.
