ABERDEEN MAN MERVIN HARDY CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND SECRET CAMERA RECORDINGS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Aberdeen, Mervin Hardy, aged 59, faced charges in Aberdeen Sheriff Court after authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of illegal material and evidence of voyeuristic behavior.Hardy admitted to possessing a vast number of indecent images of children, with the total amounting to over six thousand photographs, and also acknowledged the act of secretly recording two women in a shower setting.
The investigation was initiated after police traced an IP address linked to the distribution and possession of child exploitation material.
During questioning, Hardy displayed a level of awareness about the police presence, reportedly stating, “It’s only me you have to speak to,” indicating his recognition of the investigation’s focus on him.
Authorities seized electronic devices from Hardy’s residence, located at Rosebank Gardens in Aberdeen, which upon examination revealed a staggering 6,264 images.
These images were categorized predominantly as Category C, indicating the least severe level of indecency, but nonetheless representing a grave violation of child safety and dignity.
In addition to the images, investigators discovered 130 videos depicting children in explicit and illegal situations.
Furthermore, Hardy admitted to setting up a covert camera that recorded two women in the shower without their knowledge or consent, adding a layer of personal violation to his crimes.
The case was adjourned, with Sheriff Alison Stirling postponing sentencing until the following month, allowing for further legal proceedings and considerations.
