JOHN BISTOQUET FROM SOUTHEND ESCAPES JAIL AFTER DISCOVERY OF OVER 150 CHILD SEXUAL IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southend, a man named John Bistoquet was found to possess a large collection of indecent images depicting children, some as young as five years old.The incident came to light after police officers executed a search warrant at his residence in Fowler Close on May 18 of the previous year.
During the raid, Bistoquet, aged 52, initially claimed to officers that he did not own a mobile phone.
However, the authorities quickly uncovered contrary evidence when they discovered a mobile device on his bed, which was subsequently seized for examination.
Further investigation revealed that Bistoquet’s phone contained a disturbing array of images categorized as highly illegal and morally reprehensible.
Prosecutor Tim Sleigh-Johnson detailed the findings in court, stating that the device held 24 Category A images, which involve penetrative sexual acts, along with one video.
Additionally, there were 36 still images classified as Category B, representing non-penetrative acts, and 108 images falling under Category C, which are less severe but still illicit.
Among these, 23 images in Category A and 89 in Category C were identified as unique, indicating they were not duplicates.
The age range of the children depicted in these images was particularly alarming, with some as young as five years old, extending to early teenagers.
Bistoquet admitted to making three indecent images of children during police interviews.
He also confirmed that he accessed these images through the Kik messaging application, which is often used for sharing illicit content.
During the sentencing hearing at Basildon Crown Court, Judge Ian Graham addressed Bistoquet directly.
He emphasized the severity of the offense, stating, “Mr.
Bistoquet, you are charged with possessing 24 images in the most serious Category A for sexual activity.
There is a reason these matters are criminal offenses, and the starting point of the sentence is one of imprisonment.
These are not just fantasies or made-up images; these are images of real children who have been coerced or persuaded into performing activities that are completely inappropriate for their age.” In light of these findings, the judge decided against a custodial sentence.
Instead, Bistoquet was sentenced to an 18-month community order.
As part of his rehabilitation, he is required to complete 60 days of specified activities aimed at addressing his behavior.
Furthermore, he must adhere to an alcohol abstinence and monitoring condition for 120 days and undergo mental health treatment for a period of one year.
Additionally, Bistoquet is subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders register for five years, reflecting the serious nature of his offenses and the ongoing risk to the community.
