MICHAEL BRUGGINK SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS IN SOUTHEND FOR ABUSE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES
In a case that has shocked the community of Southend, Michael Bruggink, aged 27, was handed a severe prison sentence of 13 years at Southend Crown Court on Monday, July 18, 2011.The conviction followed a series of heinous crimes involving a young girl, aged just 11, whom Bruggink assaulted and exploited.
Bruggink, residing on York Road in Southend, was found guilty of multiple serious charges.
These included raping the young girl under the age of 13, committing two separate sexual assaults against her, and inciting her to engage in sexual activity.
Throughout the trial, Bruggink maintained his innocence regarding the charges of sexual assault and incitement.
However, he did admit to possessing indecent images, which further compounded his criminal record.
The court's decision to impose a 13-year prison term reflects the gravity of his offenses.
Additionally, Bruggink will be subject to lifelong monitoring, as he is required to register as a sex offender and will be under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for the remainder of his life.
These measures aim to prevent any future harm and ensure public safety.
Detective Constable Jayne Tolley, who led the investigation, expressed her condemnation of Bruggink's actions.
She stated, “These were some of the worst images we have seen, and he then acted out his fantasy on a vulnerable young girl.
He forced her to relive this trauma by making her give evidence against him in court.
This sentence is nothing less than he deserves.” The case has left a lasting impact on the community of Southend, highlighting the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting children from such predatory behavior.
