PAUL MARSH FROM SOUTHEND SENTENCED FOR SIX-YEAR SEXUAL ABUSE OF SCHOOLGIRLS IN CANVEY

In a case that has shocked the local community, Paul Marsh, a 60-year-old resident of Southend, was sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing two young girls over a period of six years. The offences took place on Canvey Island, where Marsh committed these heinous acts between August 1976 and December 1983.

I have no doubt that these offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.”

Throughout the police interviews, Marsh repeatedly denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence. However, when he appeared before Basildon Magistrates’ Court last month, he changed his plea and admitted to nine counts of indecent assault. As part of his sentence, Marsh was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
