GARRY FANE FROM SOUTHEND SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND ASSAULTS

In a case that has shocked the community of Southend, Garry Fane, aged 37, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious offenses involving minors and violent assault.

The criminal proceedings revealed that Fane had created and stored explicit images of young girls, all of school age, on his computer. These disturbing images came to light during a police search of his flat located in Baxter Avenue, Southend, which was part of an investigation into an unrelated incident involving an indecent assault on a nine-year-old girl.

The investigation uncovered that Fane had engaged in a heinous act of molestation against the young girl while she was shopping with her grandmother and a friend at Woolworth’s store on Southend’s High Street. The girl, visibly distressed by the assault, later identified Fane during an identification parade, confirming his involvement in the attack.

Prosecutor Karen Jones detailed the case at Basildon Crown Court, emphasizing the severity of the crimes. She also revealed that Fane, who reportedly suffers from mental health issues, had previously assaulted a fellow student at an information technology college in Southend, resulting in the student suffering a broken jaw and cheekbone.

Fane’s defense lawyer, Miss Navaz Daruwalla, explained that her client had a history of offending during periods of mental illness and had spent time in psychiatric hospitals. She stated that Fane was unable to fully explain his sudden violent outburst against the college peer, describing it as an impulsive act.

Furthermore, Miss Daruwalla acknowledged that Fane accepted the wrongdoing associated with the possession of the lewd images and expressed remorse for the incident involving the young girl at Woolworth’s. Fane pleaded guilty to three charges: possessing indecent images of children, indecently assaulting the nine-year-old girl, and causing grievous bodily harm to the college student.

As a result of these convictions, Fane was sentenced to three years in prison, marking a significant legal action against a man whose actions have deeply affected multiple victims and the Southend community at large.
