May 2018 Pervert had ‘child-like sex doll’ when Longshaw Street home raided A paedophile was caught with a ‘child-like sex doll’ in his house during a police raid. Christopher Molphy was also found in possession of indecent images of children and a number of items of children’s underwear when officers executed a warrant at his home in Dallam in July last year. But he was spared jail at Warrington Magistrates Court last Wednesday. The court heard that Cheshire Police raided Molphy’s home on Longshaw Street on July 27 last year. Following a search of the property various items were seized by officers – including a Macbook Pro laptop, children’s underwear, a ‘child-like sex doll’ and a sex toy. Molphy was present at the time of the raid and arrested. When the laptop was examined, five category C indecent images of children were found on the hard drive. The 30-year-old admitted making indecent photographs of children during an earlier court hearing in April. Molphy had previously appeared before the courts nine years ago after being caught in possession of indecent images of children. This was the second time that he has been convicted of the same offence, having had one previous conviction dating back to 2009 for making indecent images of children. He was spared jail on that occasion, receiving a 16-week prison sentence suspended for two years and being subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order. And last week he was again given 16 weeks behind bars suspended for two years by magistrates. The court heard that Molphy is now unemployed after being dismissed from his previous job earlier this month, and is now reliant on disability living allowance. Defence solicitor Colin Rawson said: “The defendant’s previous conviction causes some concern, but he is certainly embarrassed and ashamed at being back in court. “During the past 12 months, he has regained the support of his family. “My client was going through a difficult time in his life when this offence occurred, but he is determined to put those dark days behind him and has shown that he has a genuine level of remorse.” In addition to his suspended jail sentence, Molphy was again subjected to a sexual harm prevention order of five years and will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next seven years. Magistrates also handed him a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement. The defendant was order to pay £85 court costs and a £150 victim surcharge, to be paid within two weeks of the order. Forfeiture and destruction of the materials seized was also ordered by the magistrates.
