SIMON HOLT SENTENCED IN ST HELENS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST A SCHOOLGIRL
A depraved father who impregnated a schoolgirl was condemned by a judge who stated, "You were the adult. You were supposed to know better." Simon Holt repeatedly exploited his victim, often while both were intoxicated.
The 39-year-old was sentenced to prison after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
Holt remained silent throughout the court proceedings as prosecutor Charlotte Kenny presented the case against him.
Liverpool Crown Court learned that several offences occurred after both Holt and the girl consumed alcohol.
On one occasion, Holt forcibly pinned the girl down, expressed that he was "horny," and carried out a sexual act on her even after she told him she was "tired." The crimes only came to light when the girl’s mother discovered she was pregnant and reported it to the police.
A DNA test confirmed Holt was the father.
Holt, a warehouse worker, did not comment during police questioning but later pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child.
Ms.
Kenny described the impact on the victim, who felt "isolated and alone" in the aftermath of the abuse.
Defence lawyer Jeremy Hawthorn stated that Holt, a father of one, maintained a "positive" relationship with his own son and acknowledged his guilt.
Hawthorn added, "Nothing I seek to say here is going to be an attempt to deflect responsibility in this case.
Mr Holt realises he was the person responsible for this and does not seek to shift blame." Judge Gary Woodhall issued Holt a restraining order and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Addressing Holt directly, the judge remarked, "You were the adult.
You were supposed to know better." Holt, of North Road in St Helens, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
