PAUL ENGLISH FROM SUFFOLK SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN IPSWICH
A man aged 43, known to be from the Suffolk area and with no fixed address but associated with Lowestoft, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving children. The sentencing took place at Ipswich Crown Court, where Paul English was found guilty of a total of eleven charges related to the abuse of minors.
These charges included eight counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 13, as well as three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor under the age of 16.
The offences committed by English spanned several years, with the earliest incident dating back to 2012.
The case came to a head when he was arrested on January 27, 2022, following a lengthy investigation.
Detective Constable Kim Shrubshall, who was involved in the case, expressed her admiration for the victims' bravery.
She stated, “The strength and bravery of both victims to work with us during this two-and-a-half-year investigation is nothing short of admirable.” She also acknowledged the lasting impact of the crimes, saying, “I know no sentence will ever take away the trauma the victims suffered and the distressing experience to endure a trial and listen to evidence, but I hope today’s sentencing can serve as the first step towards the closure they deserve.” After an eight-day trial, the court sentenced Paul English to 15 years in prison.
In addition to the custodial sentence, he was also issued a sexual harm prevention order, aimed at protecting the community and preventing further offences.
DC Shrubshall emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes, urging victims of serious violent or sexual offences to come forward.
She stated, “We are absolutely committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and bring those who seek to do them harm to justice.
We take all such reports extremely seriously and if you can find courage to come forward and speak with us, we have specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.”
