TIMOTHY NEALE SENTENCED IN SUFFOLK FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A man from Lowestoft, Suffolk, Timothy Neale, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of committing a series of deeply disturbing and traumatic sexual offences involving a child.The sentencing took place at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday, where Neale, aged 55 and residing on Montgomery Avenue, received a total of 19 years behind bars.
Leading up to his trial, which was scheduled to last two weeks in April, Neale maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to multiple serious charges.
These included five counts of rape, two counts of causing a child to observe a sexual act, one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and one count of sexual assault on a child.
The charges against him were initially brought in May 2020, marking a long and arduous investigation process.
In the courtroom, the judge handed down significant sentences for each of the offences.
Neale was sentenced to 19 years for each of the two counts of rape, reflecting the gravity of these crimes.
Additionally, he received 12-year sentences for three other counts of rape, emphasizing the severity of his actions.
For causing a child to watch a sexual act, he was sentenced to 12 months and nine months respectively for the two counts.
The court also imposed a 30-month sentence for engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and a three-year term for sexual assault of a child.
All these sentences are to run concurrently, meaning Neale will serve the longest sentence of 19 years.
Throughout the investigation and court proceedings, the Suffolk Police’s Internet Child Abuse Investigations Team played a crucial role.
Detective Constable Williams, who was involved in the case, praised the victim for their remarkable bravery.
“It has been a long journey to reach this stage for the victim and their family to endure,” DC Williams stated.
“They have also shown incredible bravery in terms of reporting it to police and also providing evidence during the investigation, court hearings, and trial, which again shows their courage in securing this conviction.” DC Williams emphasized the police department’s commitment to pursuing justice for victims of non-recent incidents and providing support throughout the process.
“This case demonstrates we are absolutely committed to pursuing perpetrators of non-recent incidents and supporting victims,” he added.
“We urge victims of any serious violent or sexual offence to come forward to the police, seek support from the agencies available, and we remain committed to supporting all victims who report sexual offences.”
