November 2012 PROLIFIC PAEDO TARGETED GIRL AFTER RELEASE FROM JAIL A prolific paedophile tried to lure a young girl to a park for sex just months after being released from jail, a court heard today (Fri). Patrick Green, 45, sent pictures of his manhood and naked torso over the internet as he groomed his victim for sex in chat rooms. Green bragged he had slept with underage girls in the past and wanted to have sex with her before she turned 16. OCTOBER 2000 Molester met girl at Sutton station Internet paedophile Patrick Green repeatedly met his 13-year-old victim at Sutton railway station before luring her back to his flat to sexually abuse her. Aylesbury Crown Court heard on Tuesday that Green gained the girl’s trust while exchanging messages in an Internet chatroom, before arranging to meet her in person in early April at the Brighton Road station, close to her home. They met there on several subsequent occasions, after which Green took her back to his flat in Iver Green, Buckinghamshire and repeatedly abused her. The 33-year-old former export clerk was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to two counts of indecent assault, four counts of unlawful sex with a minor and one charge of attempted unlawful sex with a minor. He also admitted eight counts of possessing indecent photographs of children. Sentencing, Judge Christopher Tyrer told Green: “The victim of your sexual offences was a child. She was nave and vulnerable to predators like you. “This was a disgraceful betrayal of a child’s innocence. You wormed your way into her affection and confidence and effectively targeted her for your sexual gratification.” Green had initially claimed to be a 15-year-old boy and flattered the girl, saying: “I believe the way we feel about each other will mean we will always stay together – I’m lucky to have you in my life.” But when she missed one of their dates at Sutton station, he told her by email: “The rose I bought for you is looking a little wilted. I looked like a right idiot standing there waiting for you.” In his judgement, Judge Tyrer said: “Those who exploit children the way you do should expect serious sentences. “This was premeditated, persistent and determined.” In the first case of its kind, he gave Green an above average sentence for the charges to make an example of him and to deter other paedophiles who seek their prey in cyberspace. The girl’s parents, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been reported as saying that Judge Tyrer was right to give Green a longer sentence. The judge added: “Children are encouraged to use the internet for educational purposes. “Their curiosity is bound to lead them to explore sites they should avoid.”
